Vancouver day 5

Day 5, I woke up really down that day. didn't know why exactly. Maybe I was going to be sick. I AM sick now.

I felt my mood affect everyone,. But really, I didn't really care that day.

So that days an arty-farty day. We went down to Granville Island again. This time, there were more activities.

Again, that day's a gloomy day.

The entrance to the Island was somewhat, a little less than 'gran' for me. Ok, ok, I know that's lame. But it really was quite pathetic.

Then with no time to loose again, we head out for the best place for deal on Fish and Chips. I don't think we got the best though. We went to Tony's cafe. But clam chowder was splendid though, but it doesn't compensate for the little I got for the price we paid.

Another picture.

So, unsatisfied, for me at least, we went back to the Public Market. I was still hungry, but the rest decided otherwise, and not let me buy anything to eat.

They were too busy looking for things to do, and places to go to. The island is not even a fraction of sentosa!

About the market, my sister was tempted, but conveniently un-tempted by the bread stand. I was really hungry...

Walking on, we found a busker. Man, this guy can really sing. I thought it was a recording, but no, it was real!

Ugh, I find it weird to blog now, everyone in the hotel room's walking about, looking at the screen.

Not that I have any problem with them reading, but not when I'm writing!

Gosh, talk about irritation!

It was really cold, my jacket wasn't really water-proof, we dropped by a brewery.

My mom's really the coolest. Does YOUR mother buy beer for you?

The brewery was such a gentlemen area... It was so quite, and boring!

So, again. Does your mom buy a beer platter for you? From left to right, maple ale, lager, pale lager, amber ale.

Top stuff! never tasted beer this good before!

So after several beers, we went for some cooking demonstration.

I learn something new. Swordfish.

Try this, you'll need really fresh swordfish for this dish to taste good.

There are 3 layers, the base salad which can be any salad you like, make sure there's colour in the salad for aesthetics reasons.

The next, is the sword fish, about an inch and a half thick. Grill it on a hotplate, not too long, you'd want the middle to be a bit raw, so if you cut it down the middle, you'd see a bit a pink in the middle. That's just right. Grill on each side with a couple pinches of salt-pepper.

The top is the fish salad, the salad that goes with the fish.

-1 portion of yellow onions, diced
-1 portion of tomato, peeled, and mushy stuff taken out, diced. The skin can be taken out easily by blanching.
-1 portion of plump sundried tomatoes, diced. Just soak the sundried tomatoes in water overnight.
-Balsamic Vinegar, enough for all the ingredients to hold the flavour of the balsamic.
-Some fresh thyme, depends on how much herb taste you'd want.
-Pepper and salt to taste.

That's about it. Make your the salad for the topping it cold when your dish it on your hot swordfish steak. It's good, trust me. The recipe is not tried, but soon it'll be.

So then we went around some more, looking, missing every good performances.

Until we got to the coastal jazz place. They were really pro, but I still slept. Jazz gets me so relaxed that I'm never able to keep awake. So if i sleep when you play jazz, it's a complement.

And we topped it off with a fire performance by really crazy people. We were out in the cold, 4 degrees with winds.

Till next time XD !
